The Hudson River Estuary Program is a unique regional partnership designed to protect, conserve, restore, and enhance the estuary. The Hudson's productivity and diversity of natural resources sustain a wide array of present and future human benefits. It is a nursery for valuable food and game fish, a water supply, a boater's playground, a landscape of inspiring beauty, a shipping route, and more. Its management calls for a cooperative effort of broad scope, coordinating public input with the expertise of professionals throughout New York State's Department of Environmental Conservation [DEC] and other agencies.

New York State Hudson River Valley Greenway
http://www.hudsongreenway.state.ny.us
The Hudson River Valley Greenway is an innovative state sponsored program created to facilitate the development of a voluntary regional strategy for preserving scenic, natural, historic, cultural and recreational resources while encouraging compatible economic development and maintaining the tradition of home rule for land use decision-making.

Through voluntary participation in the Greenway community planning program, communities in thirteen counties in the Hudson River Valley can receive technical assistance and funding for local land use planning projects that incorporate the goals of the Greenway program. The Greenway supports local and regional planning efforts that address natural and cultural resource protection; economic development, including tourism, agriculture and the redevelopment of our urban areas and commercial waterfronts; public access; regional planning; and heritage and environmental education.

Scenic Hudson
http://www.scenichudson.org
Scenic Hudson is an environmental organization and land trust working to protect, preserve and restore the Hudson River and its riverfront as a public and natural resource. To realize this vision, the group's experienced leaders and staff of experts combine coalition building, citizen-based advocacy and sophisticated planning tools to create environmentally healthy communities, champion smart economic growth, open up riverfronts to the public and preserve the valley's inspiring natural beauty.

We are guided by these enduring principles:
• Outstanding quality of life is achievable only when a clean, healthy environment is a key component of economic development.
• All citizens have a right to outstanding quality of life, including access to our Hudson River, to open space and to participate in community decision-making.
• Our natural environment is an irreplaceable source of spiritual and artistic vitality and must be preserved forever.

Sustainable Hudson Valley
http://www.sustainhv.org
Sustainable Hudson Valley is a catalyst for building a new economic culture that honors natural laws and human creativity. SHV is a regional organization that operates through partnerships with local communities and networks. We help communities to adopt cutting edge methods for developing local economies that work for people and the environment.

We support people in becoming more conscious consumers and citizens, reclaiming control of their lives and leaving a positive legacy for the next generation. While chambers of commerce promote local business and jobs, environmental organizations and planners encourage “smart growth,” and trade associations cultivate markets for emerging technologies, we provide a bridge for all these groups to each other and local communities, so that real change can take place.
