Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress is gathering federal, state and local experts to discuss regional infrastructure issues for a half-day infrastructure conference 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 18, at Anthony’s Pier 9, New Windsor.

The morning will open with Congressman Sean Maloney who serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to give the federal perspective. Joan McDonald, commissioner of the New York State Department of Transportation, will speak about transportation infrastructure in New York. A panel of local municipal officials, engineering experts and water resource specialists will discuss water and wastewater infrastructure issues. New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli will speak during lunch on how government finances are impacting infrastructure in New York State.

Graham Trelstad of the planning and engineering firm AKRF and Pattern for Progress infrastructure specialist March Gallagher will provide opening remarks at the conference in order to frame the issues the region is now facing in infrastructure. “Due to reductions at all levels, there is not enough money to address the infrastructure issues we see every day and even those we don’t see,” said Gallagher. “Frankly, this lack of investment can be dangerous and it’s why we need to come together to discuss the best ways forward.”

Event sponsors include the Port Authority of NY & NJ, Advance Testing, The Chazen Companies, AKRF, Barton & Loguidice, Holt Construction, Orange & Rockland Utilities, and United Water. Sponsors of the 50th anniversary year at Pattern for Progress and of this event include Westchester Medical Center, Sterling National Bank and Crystal Run Healthcare.

The May 18 conference includes continental breakfast and a buffet lunch. Admission is $60 for members; $70 for non-members and $35 for municipal or school officials and employees. Sponsorships are available. Please call the Pattern office at 845-565-4900 or email for information, or see pattern-for-progress.org.
