A Younger Generation in Change

In the Mid-Hudson Valley and across the country, local governments and economic development agencies are searching for ways to attract the millennial generation, the largest generation in American history, and the future workforce of the country. Although there is no definitive definition, for the purposes of this analysis the millennial generation is defined as those born between the years of 1981 to 2000.

Unfortunately, despite their coveted status, many millennials in the Mid-Hudson Valley are leaving the Valley. From 2000 to 2010, the millennial population in the study area grew by 41% overall as more babies were born into the generation.
