The Mid-Hudson Valley shares a symbiotic relationship with New York City (NYC), its neighbor and largest metropolitan area in the country, which accounted for 10% of the nation’s GDP in 2016 and is home to 4.3 million jobs. The global megacity, with booming technology, finance and tourism sectors, has made a robust recovery from the Great Recession. The study area has leveraged its relationship with the city and benefited from its success.
