Labor Force: Who’s Working, Who’s Not

There is no debate that current unemployment rates are low in the Mid-Hudson Valley and throughout the nation. Many business sectors in the Mid-Hudson Valley are having difficulties finding a workforce. To put the current state of the region’s labor force into context, Pattern analyzed labor force metrics from before the Great Recession (2000), in the aftermath of the Great Recession (2012), and post Great Recession (2017). Pattern also examined trends in labor force, the number of people employed, the number unemployed, and the unemployment rate.
