The December 10 Celebration Is All About Fun
NEWBURGH – September 8, 2015 – It will not be your typical Pattern event. No long speeches. No lengthy awards reception. No serious policy talk. It will be all about fun and surprises. And Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress is pleased to announce that Daymond John, one of the “Sharks” on ABC TV’s Emmy Award winning reality show “Shark Tank,” will appear as the evening’s special guest.
Recently named a Presidential Ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship, Mr. John is widely considered the “Godfather of Urban Fashion” for his work in creating the world renowned brand FUBU (For Us By Us). In addition, Mr. John has grown to be one of the most sought-after branding experts and keynote speakers in both business and fashion while maintaining his ties to the Hudson Valley as a homeowner in the Poughkeepsie area.
“I want to say thank you to Pattern for Progress for allowing me to be their guest to celebrate their 50th Anniversary,” Mr. John said. “This is an incredible evening and they deserve to have the spotlight for all the great work they do and the tireless effort they put forth in making a difference in the lives and communities throughout the Hudson Valley area.”
“Fifty years is a long time to do anything,” said Jonathan Drapkin, president and CEO of Pattern for Progress. “We are proud of the people we serve and what we have accomplished. But this celebration is all about fun.”
Stay tuned for more Pattern party details, including the full entertainment lineup and much more. Pattern’s 50th anniversary celebration will be held December 10 at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor beginning at 5:30 p.m. “We simply want our guests to walk out at the end of the evening and say, ‘Now that was a party!’” Drapkin added.
As part of its 50th year, Pattern announced two broad-based initiatives that together form “Pattern for the Future.” These projects are the Urban Action Agenda and The Center for New Models in Education. Work is well underway. As part of this effort, the Pattern Board of Directors announced a goal to raise $1 million and, as of the end of August, had achieved 80 percent. To contribute to this effort, purchase 50th anniversary sponsorships, advertise or to reserve a seat or table for the celebration, please call Pattern’s office at (845) 565-4900 or e-mail .
Pattern for Progress began in 1965 as Mid-Hudson Pattern for Progress, headquartered at the State University College at New Paltz. Pattern’s inaugural year came with an endorsement from Governor Nelson Rockefeller saying, “Planning in this region will prosper – or it will fail – because of the decisions of our region’s citizens… We must keep our eyes fixed on the human objective – the betterment of the people.” Pattern looks forward to doing just this for another 50 years. Come celebrate!
