Mary Beth Bianconi is a Partner and Senior Project Manager with over 20 years of experience as a consultant to public and private entities with a focus on infrastructure and economic development. She applies her expertise to conceptualizing, permitting and financing small and large scale municipal infrastructure projects as well as providing assistance to community planning and zoning boards in conducting site plan, subdivision and variance reviews in conformance with local and state codes, the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) and, if necessary, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Additionally, Ms. Bianconi has spearheaded a number of economic development master plans, from concept and due diligence as well as economic pro forma analysis through the SEQR process to permitting and implementation. A proponent of regional approaches to economic development and infrastructure, her work experience spans throughout New York’s Capital District, the North County, Catskills, Southern Tier and Hudson River Valley.

Bill Calderara is an accomplished bank executive with over 29 years experience in leadership, strategic planning, business development, operations, risk management, finance. He joined Ulster Savings as President and CEO in June of 2016. Prior to joining Ulster, Mr. Calderara was President and CEO, Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan and its holding company Naugatuck Valley Financial Corp., where he was hired to lead a turnaround of a “Troubled Bank” and within 18 months, successfully changed the entire Risk Profile of the Bank and returned the bank to profitability then orchestrated the successful sale of NVSL, a public company to Liberty Bank, a mutual company in January 2015. This transaction provided a good return for the investors, more product offerings for the customers, increased giving to the community and most importantly retained 92% of the employees.

Prior to joining Naugatuck Valley, Mr. Calderara served as Senior Vice President Chief Lending Officer at Newtown Savings Bank. As Executive Vice President, at Fairfield County Bank, and at the The Bank of New York Mr. Calderara held a variety of positions including President and Chief Financial Officer of BNY Holdings, LLC a $7 billion REIT; he was also Chief Financial Officer of BNY Mortgage Company. Mr. Calderara has also been very involved in community and industry leadership, and has received a number of awards and accolades throughout his career.

Geoffrey Brackett

Geoffrey Brackett is Executive Vice President at Marist College, a post he has held since August of 2010. In that capacity he functions as second officer to the college president and directly oversees many of the key operating areas of Marist. He also chairs many of the key operational committees of the college, oversees the strategic planning and annual operations for the College, and serves as a key point of contact for local government officials. Dr. Brackett came to Marist after having served 20 years at Pace University in many capacities, most recently as provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs. He served as chairman of the Department of English from 2005 to 2006 and associate provost for Academic Affairs from 2006 to 2007. A member of the Association of Governing Boards, the American Council on Education, and Council of Independent Colleges, Dr. Brackett is also a member of the Modern Language Association. He serves on the board of St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Orange County.

Graham Trelstad, AICP, is Vice President and Senior Technical Manager at WSP USA.  Prior to this Graham was Senior Vice President and director of planning for the Hudson Valley office of the New York City -based firm, AKRF. Mr. Trelstad graduated with a B.A. in Urban Studies from Columbia University and received an M.E.S. from the Yale University School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. He has more than 20 years of experience in community and regional planning, environmental impact assessment, integrated transportation and land use planning, and visual impact assessment. As a regional and environmental planner, he serves as the planning consultant to a number of towns and villages throughout the Hudson Valley.

A registered lobbyist, Mr. Betke has extensive experience working with the Governor’s Office, the Legislature, state agencies, the Attorney General and the State Comptroller, along with New York’s federal government representatives. Mr. Betke’s clients range from major industry associations to small businesses to not-for-profit organizations. His work encompasses all aspects of government relations, including legislation, procurement, appropriations and regulatory matters. Mr. Betke draws on his significant experience serving as general counsel to various municipalities. Mr. Betke currently serves as attorney for the Villages of Catskill and Saugerties, providing representation on a number of legal matters. Mr. Betke has been elected to multiple terms as councilman of the town of Coxsackie and served as town supervisor for 8 years.

Anthony Campagiorni is the Vice President of Business Development and Governmental Affairs for Central Hudson Gas & Electric, a regulated gas and electric company headquartered in Poughkeepsie, New York that serves 302,000 electric customers and 80,000 natural gas customers in the Hudson Valley of New York State. In his capacity at Central Hudson, Anthony is leading the corporation’s newly created Energy Transformation and Solutions division that manages several initiatives including: the company’s demonstration projects for the Reforming Energy Vision (REV) instituted by New York’s Public Service Commission. For six years prior to his position at Central Hudson, Anthony was the first President & CEO of the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation, where he directed the regional marketing and economic development initiative that led to the creation of 10,000 new jobs for the seven counties of the Hudson Valley (Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Putnam, Ulster and Sullivan). Anthony has also held several appointed positions at the Empire State Development Corporation (NY State’s economic development agency) including Associate Counsel, Director of Business Development in the Mid-Hudson Region, and Director of World Trade Center Business Recovery, where he was responsible for marketing more than $800 million in financia lassistance to assist small businesses below 14th Street in Manhattan to recover from the events of September 11th. He practiced commercial litigation for the firm Heller & Laiks in New Jersey where his practice concentrated on construction litigation and representing large landlords. Anthony obtained his juris doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law, his master of public administration from Marist College, and his bachelor of arts from Syracuse University. He has completed the Executive Development Program at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He is the Chair of the Dutchess County Economic Development Advisory Group, in addition to serving on the Pattern for Progress board, he serves on the boards of St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, the Orange County Partnership and the Poughkeepsie Alliance.

Before founding CrisisRisk, Suzy co-founded a nationally recognized crisis management firm which she sold in 2017, served as Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel of a NASDAQ company, Director and CAO of a NYSE insurance holding company, a litigator with a major New City law firm handling professional liability matters and Managing Attorney of a law firm with multiple offices throughout the country.

Very active in the New York Hudson Valley region, Suzy serves on the board of Rhinebeck Bank as well as the Sullivan County Industrial Development Agency and the Trevor Loughlin foundation. She is Race Director of the Rhulen Rock Hill Run & Ramble 5K, now in its 28th year, benefitting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Mr. Maughan brings over 25 years of clinical and leadership experience to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall (MSLC). As immediate past President and Chief Operating Officer for MSLC, Mr. Maughan was instrumental in MSLC’s transformation from reactive medicine to proactive healthcare management of the populations MSLC is privileged to serve. These transformations include leading the efforts that brought MSLC’s COVID-19 Vaccination Program to fruition, vaccinating more than 20,000 Orange County Residents in the first months since inception. Mr. Maughan also spearheaded MSLC’s first ever Certification and Designation as a Level III Trauma Center and led MSLC’s response to the Opioid Epidemic, ensuring the community has access to Medication Assisted Treatment. Mr. Maughan was responsible for securing more than $20 million in grant funding from NYSDOH which was necessary to facilitate expansion on both the Newburgh and Cornwall campus as part of the multi-phased, Statewide Healthcare Facility Transformation Program and is leading the third round of funding in 2022.

Mr. Maughan has served in many clinical, operational and leadership roles throughout his career. He has been instrumental in building relationships internally and externally to ensure MSLC continues to meet the growing healthcare needs of our communities. In 1995 he formed Atech Center, Inc. to develop training programs in construction materials testing. Mr. Smith has served on many community boards, such as the Orange County Workforce Investment Board, Orange County Citizens Foundation, Mount Saint Mary College, and SUNY Orange. For the past 15 years, his company has been involved in finding the most value for his clients’ businesses through executive coaching, leadership and management training and development, board development, and other programs. The clients served has been varied, they have been from Fortune 500 companies to sole proprietor businesses, from for-profit companies to not-for-profit entities, from large companies to small organizations. For seven-plus years Dennis served as Chairman of the Board of the Orange County Capital Development Corporation. He later took on a concurrent role as Managing Director/ CEO for the organization. In addition to these activities, Dennis has served as an adjunct professor at New York University, Marist College, Mount Saint Mary College and at our own Culinary Institute of America. Susan Browning is western regional president of Nuvance Health and president of Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

As president of Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Ms. Browning oversees all aspects of the Medical Center’s operations, including financial performance, patient satisfaction and quality of care. She works closely with a team of healthcare professionals to ensure that the Medical Center continues to be a leader in healthcare in the Hudson Valley.
As western regional president for Nuvance Health, Ms. Browning serves as the lead executive in the New York region of Nuvance Health, partnering with the presidents of Northern Dutchess Hospital (Rhinebeck) and Putnam Hospital (Carmel) to evolve and execute strategies for continued response to the needs of their respective communities.

Prior to joining Nuvance Health, Ms. Browning served at Northwell Health for more than 24 years in numerous roles. Previously, she was vice president for Administration at New York Presbyterian-Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where she had responsibility for hospital operations and support services, as well as strategic ambulatory care development and outpatient operations.

Ms. Browning holds a Master of Public Health from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts from Barnard College at Columbia University. Ms. Browning is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, past president of Healthcare Leaders of New York, and also served as an examiner with the United States Department of Commerce Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Program.

Susan and her husband, John, have two adult children who are pursuing academic and professional interests, respectively. They enjoy time outdoors and long hikes in the woods with family and friends.

Alison Buckley, Ed.D.

Alison Buckley serves as the seventh president of SUNY Ulster. She assumed office in 2022 and brought with her a student-centered approach to leadership, focusing on cultivating a culture of inclusive excellence and increasing degree completion and transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Dr. Buckley’s dedicated her career to ensuring that all community college students have the resources needed to be successful. Prior to being named president of SUNY Ulster, Dr. Buckley served as the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs for Connecticut State Community Colleges, where she established and directed the strategic enrollment management division for the state’s community colleges.  Some of her accomplishments include leading the state-wide Guided Pathways reforms, including the implementation of a holistic advising model; the establishment of the first community college strategic enrollment management plan; completing the organizational design of a single enrollment management and student affairs division in advance of the community college merger; successfully completing the New England Commission for Higher Education substantive change process to merge the colleges into a single institution and working closely with the United States Department of Education on the technical components of the merger. Dr. Buckley also served for seven years as the associate vice president of enrollment management at Howard Community College (HCC) in Columbia, Maryland. During her tenure, HCC was consistently recognized for best practices in the field of enrollment management and had the strongest enrollment among Maryland’s community colleges. Dr. Buckley is also experienced in the classroom; she has taught at the American College Dublin, the Community College of Philadelphia, Delaware County Community College, and Howard Community College. Dr. Buckley has presented nationally on matters related to enrollment management and performance improvement. She currently serves on the Advisory Committee of Presidents for the Association of Community College Trustees, the National Junior College Athletic Association Presidents’ Commission, and has served on the American Association of Community Colleges Commission on Institutional Infrastructure and Transformation. In Maryland, she served on the Lieutenant Governor’s task force on two-generation poverty and the Governor’s task force for students with disabilities. Dr. Buckley earned a doctorate in organizational leadership studies from Northeastern University, a master’s degree in history and a postgraduate certificate in museum studies from the University of Delaware, an M.Phil. in women’s studies from the University of Dublin, Trinity College, and an M.B.A from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park. She holds a bachelor’s degree in classics and history from Randolph College, where she currently serves on the Board of Trustees.

In addition to holding property and casualty and life and health brokers and consultants licenses, Mr. Dean is a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and a Certified Risk Manager (CRM). Vincent L. DeLucia is Executive Vice President and President of Community Development Banking for Sterling National Bank. In his role, Mr. DeLucia is responsible for directing and managing community development banking activities for the Bank throughout its Greater New York Metro Market footprint. Mr. DeLucia is also responsible for directing and managing activities for the Bank’s Treasury Management Business and the Municipal Banking Team. He joined the bank in 1989 after graduating from St. Thomas Aquinas College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He is also a graduate of the University Of Buffalo School Of Banking in 1993, National School of Banking in 1998, Leadership Rockland in 2001, and Southern Methodist University – Cox School of Business Commercial Lending School in 2008. Conor Eckert

Conor Eckert serves as the Senior Vice President at the Orange County Partnership. In this role, Conor is responsible for the recruitment of new investment to Orange County, NY. Conor works closely with national site selectors, corporate brokers, elected officials, and end-users to facilitate industrial and commercial projects that create jobs and positive economic activity in Orange County. Additionally, he leads the strategic business development and site selection efforts of the Orange County Partnership, with a focus on Life Sciences, Manufacturing, Food and Beverage, and Logistics. Conor has worked with nationally recognized brands such as Tesla, Amazon, City Winery, PharmaCannis, Cardinal Health, UAP, Prime Source, Poly Craft Industries, and Royal Wine/Kedem, leading to significant jobs creation and private investment in Orange County.

Prior to his role with the Orange County Partnership, Conor served as the Executive Director of the Town of Montgomery Industrial Development Agency (IDA) and Director of Economic Development and Planning. During this time, Conor led economic development initiatives leading to significant private investment in site development and in various industry clusters including distribution, green energy, housing, and tourism. Conor has devoted his career to economic development and public policy, having worked in various government roles across the Hudson Valley.

Conor graduated from Binghamton University with a bachelor’s degree in public policy and earned his master’s degree of Public Administration with a focus on management and analysis. Additionally, Conor has a graduate certificate in Real Estate Development from Cornell University. In 2022, was honored as the sole recipient of the New York State Rising Star in Economic Development award by the New York State Economic Development Council and in 2024, Conor was named one of the top 100 Trailblazers in Economic Development in the State of New York by City and State. Conor also serves on the Board of Directors for the SUNY Orange Foundation.

Javier Gomez is the Director of Real Estate and Community Development for Hudson River Housing. He coordinates the development of housing projects throughout the Hudson Valley, and provides oversight to various community programs, local partnerships, and advocacy efforts for the agency. Prior to his current role, Javier held previous positions within the agency as Director of Community Development & Impact, Manager of Real Estate Development, and Real Estate Development Program Coordinator. Before joining Hudson River Housing in 2018, he completed a one-year service term as an AmeriCorps VISTA for the Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative in the City of Newburgh sponsored by the United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region.

Javier has a deep interest in the issues of regional community and economic development as demonstrated by his other professional experiences as a Pattern for Progress Fellow, Good Work Institute Fellow, and as a cohort-member of the Community Preservation Corporation’s ACCESS program.

He is a second-generation American of Dominican and Colombian heritage, and a lifelong resident of the Hudson Valley having lived in Yonkers, Beacon, and Wappingers Falls. He graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School and holds a  bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Marist College.  Javier is an avid learner and in his free time is probably either deeply engaged in a book, podcast, lost in thought, or somewhere exploring the Hudson Valley. Kyle is currently part of the management team for the Eastdale Village project in Poughkeepsie, New York, which upon completion will include over 400 residential apartments and 120,000 SF of mixed-use commercial space.

Kyle serves on the Board of Directors for Bridges to Community, a US-based service-learning nonprofit that works to provide housing, healthcare, and education in Central American and the Dominican Republic. In his downtime, Kyle is an Ironman triathlete and avid mountain biker.

Tony Marmo is the President of Normann Staffing, located in Kingston, New York. Tony bought the business in May 2014 which was opened in 1980 by Lorraine and Rob Normann. Since then, Normann Staffing has served hundreds of businesses and placed thousands of employees into jobs in Ulster, Dutchess, Orange, Greene, Columbia and Sullivan counties.

Previously, Tony was employed by The Kingston Hospital in Kingston, New York for 23 years, serving as CEO for 9 years. He also has been employed in the long term care field for 10 years, having served as the Administrator for 3 Skilled Nursing Facilities, Northeast Center for Special Care in Kingston New York, Diamond Hill in Troy, New York, and Care One in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Michele O’Connell is president and CEO of Orange & Rockland Utilities, Inc. an electric and gas utility that’s leading the energy industry transformation. Orange & Rockland is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Consolidated Edison, Inc., operating energy utility companies in New York and New Jersey, and providing smarter and cleaner energy solutions for the nearly 1 million people in the territory.

Most recently, Ms. O’Connell served as senior vice president of Customer Operations at Con Edison. She oversaw many aspects of the customer experience, including customer outreach and education, call center operations, billing, meter reading, field collections, special services for large customers, retail choice, and field investigations related to customer inquiries. Additionally, Ms. O’Connell played a crucial role in the oversight and implementation of the new billing system.

Previously, Ms. O’Connell was vice president for Staten Island and Electric Services, Electric Operations. She was responsible for the safe, reliable, and economic operation of the electric distribution system serving Staten Island. She served on the board of the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation during her time in this position.

Ms. O’Connell joined Con Edison in 2003 as an associate engineer in System and Transmission Operations, analyzing merchant generation and transmission project interconnections. Throughout her career, she has held positions of varying responsibilities, such as leading teams that executed capital construction projects within the substations of Brooklyn and Queens; optimized and directed the project management of capital and maintenance projects for all the substations in Con Edison’s service territory and managed the safe and reliable operations and maintenance of the substations located in the Bronx and Westchester County.

Ms. O’Connell currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation (HVEDC), the New Jersey Utilities Association (NJUA) and the New York Building Congress. Daniel Ortega joined ELEC 825 in October of 2014 and oversees the Community Affairs Outreach. Dan’s primary responsibility is to assist in developing and maintaining contacts with local governmental entities, agencies, authorities, and other relevant organizations. He actively participates in community meetings such as municipal council/town meetings, public hearings, and Planning/Zoning boards, as well as community organizations such as chambers of commerce, business associations, and economic development agencies. Prior to joining Central Hudson, Ms. Raymond served as President of PPL Electric Utilities Corporation, where she oversaw electric delivery operations for over 1.5 million customers across 29 counties in Pennsylvania. During her 12-year tenure at PPL, she held various executive roles, covering strategic planning, operations, customer service, regulatory compliance, financial management, and business services. Before joining PPL, Ms. Raymond spent a decade in the telecommunications industry, holding several senior leadership positions.

Most recently, Curt spent time on the “retail” side of the business, working for a major discount broker. Wilkes is an attorney with over two decades of experience concentrated in commercial property taxation and real estate valuation disputes, as well as managing property taxes for national and global portfolios, and counseling foreign governments. He is a Partner in the distinguished full-service law firm of Cullen and Dykman, LLP, which was founded in New York City in 1850 and represents clients throughout New York State, with a heavy emphasis on litigation and major utilities. David was selected as the sole educator on property tax law for the Justices and Court Attorneys of the NYS Supreme Court’s Appellate Division.

David is a Director of the International Property Tax Institute and co-founder and President of the National Association of Property Tax Attorneys (NAPTA). He is a former Chairman of The Appraisal Foundation, which is the source of appraisal standards for the U.S. (USPAP) designated by Congress.
David has served as Senior Legal Advisor on property rights development, homeowner financing, and property tax projects in emerging markets in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. He was Editor-in-Chief of the New York State Bar Association’s flagship magazine, the “Journal”, for 14 years, with a readership of 74,000 lawyers and judges, and was Editor-in-Chief of “Real Estate Review” (New York University) for seven years. A resident of New York State’s Hudson Valley, David is an avid rock climber and mountaineer, as well as a licensed rock and ice climbing guide; he is also an airplane pilot, and an avid golfer. In 2011, Derrik R. Wynkoop became the 14th President and Chief Executive Officer of Walden Savings Bank.  Mr. Wynkoop was elected to the bank’s Board of Directors in 2012.

Prior to joining Walden Savings Bank, Mr. Wynkoop was with Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union (HVFCU), from 2004 to 2011. He was Vice President of Retail Delivery & Marketing, where he was responsible for their branch locations, the Contact Center, HVFCU Financial Services, Insurance Agency of Hudson Valley, Business Development and Marketing. He was Chief Financial Officer from 2004 to 2007.  While at the credit union, Mr. Wynkoop was one of sixteen individuals nationwide selected to participate in the prestigious Filene’s Research Institute in 2010 and 2011.

Prior to his work with HVFCU, Mr. Wynkoop was the Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Marketing of Walden Federal S&L, from 1990 to 2004. He also served as President of the bank’s Ever-Green Financial Services. While at Walden Federal, Derrik hosted a radio show called “Financial Talk”.

Mr. Wynkoop served as an Adjunct Professor in the undergraduate program at Mount Saint Mary College (1992 – 1999) and is a frequent guest speaker at the college.  In 2016, Wynkoop and Walden Savings Bank collaborated with MSMC to establish and endow the Medici Scholar’s Program.  In 2019, Wynkoop was awarded the Joseph A. Bonura Leadership Award at the Mount Saint Mary College’s 10th Anniversary Gala.  He was also an Adjunct Professor at Marist College from 1996 – 2003 and currently serves as Chairman of Marist College’s Hudson Valley Scholars Program.

In the community, Mr. Wynkoop is a Past Chairman for the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan County, and has served on the board since 2001.  Also, he is the Chairman for the SUNY Orange Foundation and has been on the board since 2010; and became a Board Member of the Orange County Partnership in 2016. Mr. Wynkoop was Co-President and Founder of the Walden Community Council from 1996 to 1999.  He also served as Vice President of the Walden Local Development Corporation from 1998 to 2004 and was one of the community leaders responsible for the 4-day construction of the Walden Community Park in 2001 at Wooster’s Grove in Walden.

In 1991, Mr. Wynkoop was one of the original Board of Directors for the Wallkill Valley Health Center (WVHC) in Walden; where he still serves as Vice President. He later joined the board of the Hudson River HealthCare (HRH) in Peekskill when WVHC became a satellite of HRH.

In 2015, Mr. Wynkoop hosted a “Take Your Lawmaker to Work Day” with Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney.  In November 2016, Wynkoop received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Cornerstone Family Healthcare at the Annual Pillars of the Community Gala.  In January 2017, Wynkoop served as the keynote speaker for the 7th Annual Village of Walden Leadership Awards.  In June 2017, he received The Cancer Resource Center of the Hudson Valley’s Great Guy Award based upon his work with Cancer Prevention, Education and Awareness.  In February 2018, Derrik was appointed to a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the New York Bankers Association in New York City. NYBA is comprised of more than 150 community, regional, and money center commercial banks and thrift institutions operating in New York State. NYBA members have aggregate assets in excess of $10 trillion and more than 200,000 New York employees.

Five generations of the Wynkoop family have lived in Walden and Mr. Wynkoop currently resides there with his wife, Allison.  He has three children, Sara, Christopher and Matthew. He received his Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Master of Business Administration in Accounting from Marist College.  Mr. Wynkoop also possesses his securities (Series 6, 7 and 63) and life insurance licenses.

Adam Bosch

President & CEO

Bosch started his career as a journalist in the Hudson Valley. He covered public affairs, courts and the environment for the Wallkill Valley Times, the Times Herald-Record, and in the Albany bureau of The New York Times. His work also appeared in several regional and national magazines. His work in journalism earned six Associated Press awards for investigative reporting, depth reporting, and breaking news coverage. Bosch also served as an adjunct professor of journalism for 10 years at SUNY New Paltz.

After leaving journalism, Bosch joined Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress in 2012 as vice president of research and external affairs. Bosch authored reports on the adaptive re-use of closed school buildings across the region, New Yorks tax cap, and an investigation of Rockland Countys budget deficit. His examination of Rockland Countys fiscal crisis, and recommendations to solve it, earned Pattern the Presidents Award from the Rockland County Business Association

For nine years, Bosch served as director of public affairs for the New York City water supply system the largest municipal water supply in the United States. In that role, Bosch was responsible for community outreach, intergovernmental affairs, education programs and more. He served as the primary liaison between New York City and federal, state and local officials across the Hudson Valley and Catskills for issues related to the citys reservoir system and its infrastructure. His work focused on explaining the operation, maintenance and protection of the water supply system that serves nearly 10 million New Yorkers, especially as the city pursued several large capital projects to upgrade its dams, aqueducts and treatment facilities in the region.

Bosch currently serves as a volunteer on the Catskill Advisory Group, a state-appointed panel that is developing a strategic framework to tackle the challenges and opportunities of increased visitation to the Catskill Park. He also serves on a nationwide advisory group that is developing risk communications for perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in drinking water supplies.

Bosch was born and raised in the Town of Newburgh in Orange County, and graduated from Wallkill High School. He earned his bachelors degree from SUNY New Paltz, and his masters degree from Columbia University in the City of New York. Bosch lives in Saugerties with his wife, Jennifer, and their son, Tristan.

Robin DeGroat

Vice President of Operations

Robin DeGroat is Vice President of Operations. She has served in this role since 2007 managing business relations and special projects and oversees all aspects of the organization including membership, sponsorship, event planning, support management, presentation of research and financial administration. Prior to joining Pattern, Robin served as an executive assistant at Bethel Woods Center for the Performing Arts and IBEW Local 1968. Her undergraduate work was done at State University of New York at Buffalo.

Eric Pierson, AICP

Senior Research Planner + Executive Director, Main Street: Hudson Valley

Eric Pierson joined Pattern For Progress as a junior research planner in March, 2017.

Prior to joining Pattern, Eric worked for a year and a half as an assistant planner for the Monmouth County Division of Planning in New Jersey. With the county, he assisted in the administration of the farmland-preservation program and served as staff for the Monmouth County Agriculture Development Board, conducting site visits and preparing reports regarding the New Jersey Right to Farm Act.

Eric earned a bachelor’s degree in natural-resource management from the University of Delaware in 2012 and a master’s degree in city & regional planning from the Bloustein School of Planning & Public Policy at Rutgers University in 2015. Eric works on a range of planning and economic development projects at Pattern.

Kate Stryker

Senior Researcher and Director of Resilient Community Planning

Kate is dedicated to advancing equitable solutions and initiatives with current and future generations in mind. She has played a key role in Pattern’s work since 2019, leading and facilitating community-led planning projects, numerous policy research studies, and housing and community needs assessments. Kate is committed to knowledge sharing and, under Pattern she has organized events on the topics of community development, brownfield redevelopment, and employee ownership models. She is currently managing a brownfield planning project in the City of Kingston.

Kate holds a Master of Urban Planning degree from Hunter College with a focus on environmental and community sustainability. During her education and in a collaboration between CUNY and the Kőszeg Institute of Advanced Studies, Kate received a scholarship and was part of a small team that traveled to Hungary and created a report highlighting opportunities for developing a circular economy in the Pannonian Region.  Kate also has a master’s degree in science education from NYU Steinhardt, and previously taught high school biology and ecosystem science in the Bronx, NY.

A Beacon resident since 2015, Kate experiences daily joy at the wonder of the world with her seven-year-old daughter. Kate is also a documentary filmmaker focusing on the relationship between people and their natural and built environments.

Elka Gotfryd

Executive Director of the Center for Housing Solutions and Community Initiatives and Senior Urban Planner

Elka joined Pattern for Progress as Executive Director of the Center for Housing Solutions and Community Initiatives in mid-2022, bringing extensive experience in comprehensive and land use planning, project management, community engagement and facilitation, and research.

Before joining Pattern for Progress, Elka served as City Planner for the City of Newburgh, NY, where she oversaw the Newburgh Housing Needs Assessment, administered the local zoning code, and managed the local SEQR process. Elka began her public-facing planning and engagement experience ten years prior as Community Planner at the Downtown Jerusalem Community Council. There, she led numerous public engagement and planning advocacy initiatives, the most notable of which led to a long-needed public space master plan for her jurisdiction.

After leaving Jerusalem, Elka served as Senior Associate at Project for Public Spaces in Manhattan, where she gained proficiency in all aspects of project management and honed her ability to identify viable and transformative projects by assessing their potential impact on social and physical assets. At PPS, Elka served assistant director of the Citizens’ Institute on Rural Design, director of the Sound Places creative placemaking program, and a core member of the Southwest Airlines Heart of the Community team.

Elka has worked in various capacities in over 25 cities and towns nationally and internationally across public, nonprofit, and private sectors.  Through the programs and grants she has initiated and managed, Elka has demonstrated her values of equity and justice, as well as her commitment to innovation and transparency in government.

Yasmine Aziz

Policy Research Associate

Pattern for Progress is happy to announce that Yasmine (Yaz) Aziz has joined our staff as a policy research associate. Yaz brings significant academic and practical research experience to Pattern.

She recently graduated from the London School of Economics in the United Kingdom, where she earned a master’s degree in public policy and administration. Her dissertation focused on the Covid-19 pandemic and its effects on the 2020 elections in the United States, using manual content and sentiment analysis on social media to understand how the pandemic affected legislators’ campaigning tactics.

Yaz previously worked as a research intern at the Benjamin Center at SUNY New Paltz, where she co-authored a study of the homestead / non-homestead tax system in Ossining. She also examined voter demographics and assisted with a book on women’s suffrage in New York. Yaz also interned at the Ulster County Executive’s Office, where she helped organize events such as Healthy Ulster County Week. She earned her bachelor’s degree from SUNY New Paltz.

Yaz, who was born and raised in Kingston, is passionate about policy research and its potential to help local governments across the Hudson Valley. At Pattern, she is currently working on a spatial analysis and regional plan for electric car-charging stations, which will better prepare the Hudson Valley for this evolution in transportation infrastructure.
