NEWBURGH (June 4th, 2021) – Pattern for Progress is pleased to announce the graduation of the largest class of Pattern Fellows (32) in the 14- year history of the program. The Pattern Fellows class of 2020-2021 has been in session since October 27th, 2020 exploring the issues of institutional racism, diversity, equity and inclusion, and community-police relations. The class will culminate in a virtual graduation ceremony via Zoom on Tuesday, June 8th 2021 at 11:30am, where Richard Rothstein, author of The Color of Law, will provide the Keynote Address for the ceremony.

“With the heightened awareness to the issues of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion,” says Pattern for Progress President and CEO, Jonathan Drapkin. “Pattern dedicated the theme of this year’s program to tackle the issue of institutional racism in the Hudson Valley. Though the conversation was not easy, it was important to broaden the perspective of future leaders from throughout the Valley.”

The Class of 2020-2021 attended sessions virtually via Zoom bi-weekly from October 2020 through May 2021 and worked on research projects focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion and community-police relations. The graduates will present their projects at their virtual graduation ceremony following Richard Rothstein’s Keynote Address.
