PORT CHESTER, NEW YORK – Pattern for Progress will be creating a Housing Needs Assessment and Housing Strategies Report for the Village of Port Chester. Pattern will analyze current and projected housing market demand, socioeconomic factors affecting housing, demographics and other relevant factors.

“Understanding current conditions and analyzing local and regional data will allow Pattern to build a foundation to understand housing challenges faced by people living in the Village,” says Joe Czajka, Pattern for Progress Senior Vice President for Research, Development, & Community Planning and Executive Director, of the Center for Housing Solutions and Community Initiatives. “Our goal is to work with the Village of Port Chester to develop strategies and draft policies that support housing choice for all current and future residents.”

Specifically, the study includes four components:

  • Data Collection – data research to provide a snapshot of current conditions and examining trends.
  • Meetings and Stakeholder Engagement – community feedback on learning the local housing story.
  • Analysis – understanding housing gaps and barriers.
  • Recommendations and Report – provide best practices and strategies to assist in increasing housing opportunities.

Pattern for Progress’ Center for Housing Solutions and Community Initiatives is the prime source for regional information and trends in housing in the Hudson Valley. The Center conducts research, and produces analyses, drafts housing policy recommendations, provides technical assistance, strategic planning, and financial underwriting for public, private, and nonprofit organizations, to identify action items that can address the challenges and issues raised to chart a pathway for success.
