Across the Hudson Valley a majority of housing units were built before 1970, and a significant portion pre-1939. That means majority of the homes we live in here in the Hudson Valley are more than 50 years old!

While this older housing stock can be beautiful and certainly adds to the charm of our communities, it also has its costs. Older houses have a higher risk of containing lead-based paint and asbestos, which requires remediation, along with additional major systems replacement, substantial repair and maintenance. Older homes often have higher energy costs than today’s energy efficient buildings.
