New Year’s resolutions are often related to physical well being. More exercise, visits to the doctor, and new diets all push people to better health. Social and economic factors, access to clinical care, access to healthy food, and our physical environment also all play into our health and well being. Health outcome rankings by life expectancy and how people feel show great disparity by location within our region. Individual behaviors obviously matter and resolutions to modify habits for better health are important. Planners, and policy and decision makers should also resolve to support better health outcomes for all people, regardless of where people live.
