The percentage of the population that identifies as African America or Black has increased in the majority of the Hudson Valley counties, but not all. In Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester Counties the percentage increased moderately. In Rockland County and the more rural counties of Columbia and Greene the percentage of the total population that identifies as African American or Black decreased slightly. Of the counties in our region Columbia and Green also saw the largest total population decline over the decade, -2.4% and -2.6% respectively.
