Across the Hudson Valley the percent of the population that identifies as Hispanic or Latino is increasing. In Westchester County, 26.8% of the population identified as part of this demographic, up from 20.5% in 2010.In many of the region’s urban areas the Hispanic or Latino population accounts for an even greater percent. In Newburgh, for example, the 2020 Hispanic or Latino population made up 51.1% of the population. In a region where many communities are experiencing population decline, the growing Hispanic and Latino population is an important part of economic stability.
