October 2019 | Hudson Valley Out of Alignment Issue Brief

A Clash of Cultures

The Village of Kiryas Joel, struggling to accommodate its explosive population growth and engaged in cultural and legal disputes with its neighbors, separated from the Town of Monroe in January 2019 to form Palm Tree, the first town to be created in New York state in 38 years.

This project was funded by Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp., and completed by Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress.
