The Acceleration of Technology
One of the striking differences between pre-Great Recession times and today is the dramatic acceleration in the integration of technology into our daily lives. Innovations in technology have been the driving force behind every economic revolution, and that tradition remains alive and well in the 21st century. With the manufacturing hubs of the 20th century and technology companies like IBM and General Electric locating in the Mid-Hudson Valley, the study area has historically been on the cutting edge of new technology and has benefitted greatly from it with thousands of middle-class jobs.
Here are the top ways that advancements in technology have disrupted industry, government, and quality of life in the Mid-Hudson Valley since 2008.
