Sullivan County, which nearly the size of the State of Rhode Island, has the second lowest population density in the Hudson Valley behind Greene County. The population centers of the county are the Village of Monticello and the Village of Liberty. Outside of these two villages, much of the county is characterized by rural development and a few smaller hamlets and villages.
Data Note: The dots on the map do not reflect exact locations of people. Density is calculated by census tract, and the dots are distributed randomly within the tract. Each dot represents 10 people. Villages and Hamlets are labeled only where there is a census tract that aligns with its borders.
